Due to provisions set out in the Federal lawyer regulation (BRAO Bundesrechtsanwaltsordnung ) all lawyers practising in Germany are obliged to contract a professional indemnity insurance with a sum insured at least in the amount of 250,000.00 EUR. Further details can be found in Sec. 51 BRAO.

Out-of-court dispute resolution

In disputes between lawyers and their clients is at the request of Sec. 73 Abs. 2 No. 2 in connection with Sec. 73 Abs. 5 BRAO the possibility of out-of-court dispute resolution at the Regional Chamber of lawyers Frankfurt am Main (Bockenheimer System 36, 60322 Frankfurt/Main, phone: 0 69/17 00 98-01, fax 0 69/170098-50) or in connection with Sec. 191 f. BRAO (Bundesrechtsanwaltsordnung) at the newly established Arbitration Board of the legal profession in the Federal Chamber of lawyers (accessible by E-Mail at: schlichtungsstelle@brak.de).
